Jeff Bergman has enjoyed a lengthy career as a drives and controls expert in the water and wastewater industries. His experience as a global key account manager, product and sales manager, and application and industry specialist taught him that although his own knowledge is important, everyone brings a unique value to the table. Nurturing effective cross-functional team environments has been a core focus for him throughout his career. In fact, you could say that it’s become a bit of a passion to share knowledge.

A long-time member of the Hydraulic Institute, Jeff has chaired committees on training, specification, industry coordination, and governing regulation and industry effect. He’s also been a featured speaker for municipal, environmental, and industry organizations.

Jeff graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Technology degree from Clemson University. He began his career at GE and has worked for Westinghouse/Cutler-Hammer, Danfoss, and currently holds the position of Senior Business Development Manager for the Water and Wastewater segment at ABB.

Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) are common in most municipal water systems. This presentation will cover basic problems and nuisance trips that may be encountered with VFDs. Safety comments and wiring tips will be covered as well.

Attendees should gain:

  • An awareness of safety considerations.
  • Grounding considerations.
  • Common approach questions for resolutions.
  • Typical fault and nuisance fault messages for VFDs.
  • An awareness that VFDs are self-protecting devices.
