Jeff Bergman has enjoyed a lengthy career as a drives and controls expert in the water and wastewater industries. His experience as a global key account manager, product and sales manager, and application and industry specialist taught him that although his own knowledge is important, everyone brings a unique value to the table. Nurturing effective cross-functional team environments has been a core focus for him throughout his career. In fact, you could say that it’s become a bit of a passion to share knowledge.

Jeff graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Technology degree from Clemson University. He began his career at GE and has worked for Westinghouse/Cutler-Hammer, Danfoss, and currently holds the position of Senior Business Development Manager for the Water and Wastewater segment at ABB Drives.

Abstract Text

Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) are common in municipal systems and the value they provide and how to properly select and use them are often not fully understood. This presentation will help demystify VFDs, providing a better understanding as to where and why you would use them. Attendees will leave with the ability to:

  • Be aware of safety considerations.
  • Identify applications that can benefit from VFDs.
  • A better understanding of the application and operation VFDs
  • Understand the inherent value they provide
  • Review the energy savings, reduced mechanical wear and tear, and increased infrastructure life VFDs provide
  • Recognize what needs to be considered to appropriately size and select VFDs.
  • Be aware of proper installation considerations for a successful solution.
