Abstract Text

The federal Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) requires all drinking water systems to prepare an inventory of their service line materials, specifically identifying service lines made of lead, galvanized iron connected to a lead gooseneck, or of unknown materials. Completing this activity is a challenging task as few water systems have all the records to readily prepare this inventory. This presentation outlines steps water systems can use to reduce the effort required to prepare accurate inventories. The information provided in this presentation will allow water system managers and planners to produce these required inventories efficiently and effectively.

Attendees to this presentation will receive a better understanding of the following topics:

  • Developing an unknown materials strategy
  • Verification/validation of records through machine learning
  • Conducting field investigations
  • Creating a public-facing interface that meets the needs of your community
